Improve teaching quality, perfect education and innovation

On the afternoon of April 29, SFS held a mid-term forum at Wenli Building 346. The meeting was presided over by Associate Professor Han Shuqin. Secretary of the Party committee of the SFS——Zhang Yongning, all heads and key teachers of all departments, heads and key members of the general education curriculum program attended the meeting. Department of English Language and Literature, Department of Russian Language and Literature, Department of General English, Department of Academic English, Department of Graduate Foreign Language Teaching and Department of Graduate Teaching Management carried out experience sharing of problems and discussion around the mid-term inspection of undergraduate and graduate teaching. Guo Yueqin and Yang Jie, who are in charge of the General Course Enhancement Plan, reported on the course construction.





 Chunliu, deputy director of the graduate teaching management department, said in the report that the graduate teaching management department carried out special inspection on six aspects, including basic Russian interpretation of energy, Russian translation of petroleum, and translation theories and practices. Graduate students performed well in core online courses, and the construction of teaching resources for each course has been basically completed. In terms of the construction of the provincial case base course, we are steadily promoting the course construction. Interpreting Teaching Case Based on the Interpreters Ability is going to finish recording, which totals 30 sections(500 minutes),. The graduate teaching management department also held a forum to deeply understand the problems existing in the teaching process and put forward solutions, which has received a good response.

Zhang Yongning, Secretary of the Party committee of the SFS, made a concluding speech. First he stressed that teachers should make achievements and highlights in the courses, so as to create goldenl courses. In regard of the ideological and political course, he pointed out that we must not turn foreign language class into an ideological and political course. We must conform to the law of education and imperceptibly influence students education. Finally, he mentioned that teachers should be responsible for students in the selection of teaching materials, and strictly controlled the content of teaching materials to avoid misleading students.

The SFS will classify the problems reflected in the forum, some of which will be retified by the college itself, and some of which will be reported to the relevant departments of the University, so as to further deepen the reform of curriculum examination, and steadily improve the quality of education and teaching and talent training. We should seriously summarize the students opinions and suggestions on the course process assessment, take improving the quality of the course as the goal and pay attention to the collaborative cultivation of students knowledge, ability and literacy. We should solidly promote the reform of course assessment methods, constantly standardize the process assessment, so as to truly realize the educational concept of student-centered.
