Our Students Volunteered 2021SCO International Investment and Trade Exp

2021 SCO International Investment and Trade Expo & SCO Qingdao Forum on Local Economic and Trade Cooperation was held at Fangyuan Sports Center in Jiaozhou, Qingdao from April 26 to 28, 2021.

2021 Shanghai Cooperation Expo opened grandly at 9 a.m. on April 26. With a large number of guests from home and abroad, including 76 envoys from 30 countries gathered at the Fangyuan Sports Center to discuss friendship, cooperation and development. With the theme of Sharing SCO Opportunities, Seeking Open Development, the Expo invited many international organizations such as SCO Secretariat, China-ASEAN Center and so on, as well as other relevant countries' envoys in China and famous enterprises at home and abroad to participate in the Expo, aiming to accelerate the creation of a new platform for the Belt and Road international cooperation. The success of the Expo pushed the demonstration zone into a new stage.




Opening ceremony 

 Eight graduate volunteers of School of Foreign Studies, serving as escort interpreters and project assistants, participated in the rehearsal preview and the opening ceremony of the forum. They were mainly responsible for picking up the plane, explaining the exhibition hall, escort interpreters, voice-overs and other tasks, respectively and actively cooperating with the conference staff, and successfully completed their tasks. Their excellent performance were highly evaluated by the foreign guests and the conference team.

 In this Expo, volunteers served as accompanying interpreters at the exhibition hall, the Belarusian Embassy and the Kazakhstan Business Association, guiding and interpreting for the Chinese and foreign leaders. Our volunteers made their own contribution to the communication, showing their high professional and humanistic qualities. With the goal of dedicating and serving the SCO, our volunteers successfully completed the task of Marching Towards the SCO in their enthusiastic spirits, professional service standards and a sense of responsibility.

 Wang Zimeng, a master of Foreign Languages and Literature, grade 2019, said : This practical experience was very valuable, which not only enriched my life, but also increased my practical experience and exercised my abilities.

Wang Mei, a volunteer translator, said, I have gained a lot from this activity but also encountered many problems. How to deal with them calmly and accept them gladly was a big test. Junior students should take every opportunity to improve their language skills after school.

In recent years, more than 600 volunteers of our school were sent to serve over 50 important international conferences, such as the SCO Summit, the SCO International Film Festival, the Asian Beach Game, etc. Volunteers fully demonstrated the internationalized style and interpreted the volunteering service spirit of Dedication, Love, Mutual Help and Progress with their practical actions, which showing the world youthful power of Chinese contemporary students and the beauty of Qingdao, showing Qingdao the power and style of the UPC.
