This Forum was presided by Deputy Dean Guo Yueqin of School of Foreign Studies, with Associate Professor Zhu Shan, Associate Professor Liu Yanqin, Doctor Yin Yantong and Professor Guo Yueqin sharing their academic research achievements. Some other teachers and postgraduates also attended this Forum.
Associate Professor Zhu Shan gave the report of Artificial Intelligence Era and the Application of Interpreting Technology. Dedicated to interpreting practice and research for over ten years, she shared her understanding of artificial intelligence, interpreting and their applications, and introduced the development and features of the new generation of information technology. By comparing machine translation and human translation, she talked about the future and challenges of CAI.
Dr. Yin Yantong shared the topic of “Reflections on the Present Situation of the English Translation of The Story of the Stone”. Based on his own experience from middle school till now, he explained why he was studying Hawkes's translation of The Story of the Stone. His witty remarks aroused strong resonance among the audience.
Dr. Zhang Jianke gave a presentation themed as “Corpus-based Norms of Legal Translation”. He illustrated the study of corpus-based norms of legal translation from a new perspective, and the characteristics of corpus-based translation studies.
Professor Guo Yueqin shared her own research on “Contrastive and Translation Studies of Discourse Markers”. She not only explained the results of comparative and translation research of discourse markers in a simple way, but also shared the current research status of discourse markers and looked into the future research trend.
After presentations, everyone had a free discussion to exchange ideas. The discussion was so heated that the forum scheduled to end at 9 p.m. lasted until 9:40 p.m.
