On April 16, 2021, the School of Foreign Studies of UPC with the Liuwang Town of Western Coast New Area of Qingdao inaugurated the Students' Party Spirit Education Base and have the school-land co-construction meeting. At the meeting, the two sides, through consultation and exchange, reached cooperation intentions to carry out long-term and close cooperation in the aspects of Party spirit education, rural revitalization, social practice, agricultural and production benefit. Zhang Yongning, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Foreign Studies, and Zhang Zhen, Mayor of Liuwang Town, signed the Agreement on Co-construction of Party Spirit Education Base for College Students on behalf of both sides. Zhang Yongning and the party secretary of Liuwang town, Li Haibo, jointly unveiled for the university students’ party spirit education base.
Zhang Yongning said that the cooperation with Liuwang Town to build Party Spirit Education Base was a good opportunity for the School of Foreign Languages to further improve the quality of talent training. He also said that with the approaching of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Party Community of China, under the guidance of the Party building and through field study and practice, the two sides can carry out cooperation in the aspects of the Party history study, patriotism education, voluntary service to society practice and career planning, comprehensively improve the quality of students, and cultivate more high-quality students with local feelings and service to society. The School of Foreign Languages will also give full play to its professional advantages to promote rural revitalization and the diversified development of small towns by social practice, bilingual classes and methods of helping farmers and their.
Li Haibo said:“Party building leads the joint construction of the school and the district, which is the new model of rural revitalization of Liuwang Town. We unswervingly insist on the hope that the two sides can deeply integrate the advantages of resources through cooperation, innovate the way of resource allocation. And we will rely on the party spirit education base for college students to boost the two sides of the school and the district to improve the high-quality development results in win-win cooperation. Liuwang Town will provide a platform for the students of the School of Foreign Studies to learn and practice. The person in charge of the Youth League Committee of the School of Foreign Studies introduced the pioneering project of the International Digital Museum of Rural Tourism which is being promoted by the school. This project records and displays the cultural and natural landscape, customs and history of the countryside through various ways such as VR display, video, graphic-text introduction, and translates into many languages to help the international development of the town. The project has made the promotion in English and Russia and related products for Liuwang town. And he said: “It is hoped that with the help of the cooperation platform built by the co-construction of the school, the cooperation will be strengthened in promoting Liuwang Town's cultural and historical exploration and developing cultural and creative products of agricultural and sideline products, so as to help college students carry out entrepreneurial projects and contribute to rural revitalization.”
The vice mayor of Liuwang town, Li Xianghai, thought that this school-local cooperation, helps students get out of the campus, came to the society, personally experience the development and change of the new countryside, in the imperceptibly accept the party spirit education, improve ideological cultivation through the form of diversified education practice. And it is hoped to help the economic and educational development of liuwang Town and write a new chapter of rural revitalization with the help of platforms such as student entrepreneurship project and student organization, summer practice volunteer teaching and other projects.
After the meeting, Ding Xuemin, committee member of the United Front Work of Liuwang Town, led the delegation of the School of Foreign Studies to visit the Rural Revitalization Theme Hall, Party History Red Theme Education Hall, Zhuzi Ceramic Culture Hall and other places, and deeply investigated the cultural and historical customs of Liuwang Town, rural tourism and other conditions, laying a foundation for the further development of the co-construction and cooperation between the school and land in the future.
