The First Session of “Red Capacity Training” for Counselors in the School of Foreign Studies was held on March 8th at Arts and Science building. The meeting was presided over by Mei Lin, Director of Student Affairs Office. Zou Weizhong, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the School, was invited to interpret four speeches at the training class for young and middle aged cadres. Counselors and student cadres of all grades of the School attended the meeting.

Deputy Secretary Zou Weizhong led the participants to learn the spirit of the 4th speech in the training course for young cadres of Xi Jinping, the General Secretary of the CPC. By quoting “It is a pleasure to review frequently while learning”, he pointed out that we should not study theories only, but combine theory with practice. Confucius' theory of governing the country is still of guiding significance in today's society. We should firmly follow the socialist development road, constantly strengthen our minds with theory and use theory to guide our practice, so as to promote daily work. In every process of learning, we should make clear why we need to learn and what effect we will have. Only in this way can we achieve real learning.
Deputy Secretary Zou quoted a speech given by President Xi Jinping as an introduction, “Good at learning is good at progress”. Skill is no burden, young cadres should strengthen their theory by updating knowledge reserve, shoulder their responsibilities through the unity of knowing and doing, and carry forward the spirit and enhance the ability of struggle. It is necessary to improve the ability to deal with and solve practical problems, so as to achieve the goal of being willing to and being able to achieve practical goals. The great development of the cause cannot be achieved without great learning of the whole Party and great training of cadres. Young cadres should be determined to be faithful successors of the Party's glorious tradition and fine work style, and strive to be the first to make contributions in the new era and new journey.
Deputy Secretary Zou also shared President Xi Jinping's series of speech on education policy, focusing on the principle of public welfare in education, moral education, the construction of moral sentiments and ethics. He stressed that educators should fully implement the Party's educational policy and adhere to the socialist direction of running schools. We should seriously deal with the work which we are in charge of, and firmly rectify the behaviors that infringe on the interests of the masses under the banner of education. Carry forward the spirit of utter devotion of the older generation of educators, and devote ourselves to the cause of education with sincerity, dedication and benevolence.
The purpose of this training is closely combined with the new era and new practice, closely combined with ideological theory and work practice, to refine the ideology of School counselors, strengthen practical training, enhance professional awareness, so they can truly focus on, care for, and rely on students.
