Meeting of promoting innovation and entrepreneurship, is held by School of Foreign Languages via Tencent Meeting, on January 18, 2020 in order to stimulate students’ enthusiasm for innovation and entrepreneurship, to promote technological innovation in the school, and to further deploy 7th Internet + College Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition and the 17th Challenge Cup National College Students Extracurricular Academic Technology On-campus Selection of Works Competition of the China University of Petroleum. Wang Xinbo, associate dean of School of Foreign Studies, Zou Weizhong, deputy secretary of the School Party Committee, student supervisors of all grades, all graduate and undergraduate students attend the meeting. And the meeting is presided over by Du Wenqian, secretary of the Youth League Committee.
Associate dean Wang Xinbo analyzed skills of selecting subjects and research contents of philosophy and social science through analyzing extracurricular academic works of national college students in the past and combining professional characteristics of School of Foreign Studies. Dean Wang pointed out that academic research process is to discover, ask valuable questions, and think about solutions to them from the point of view of the problem and social reality; students need to have scientific research awareness, take scientific research as their own responsibility to meet challenges; “Innovation and entrepreneurship” is an essential quality and academic ability, which is very helpful for the future development of students.” At last, deputy dean Wang hopes that all students will continue to improve comprehensive qualities in the process of conducting academic research.
Deputy secretary Zou said that innovative entrepreneurship is a kind of art. Every student must have innovative and entrepreneurial thoughts and abilities, be good at discovering problems, sum up rules, and learn from experience. At the same time, they must carefully study the report of the fifth plenary session of the 19th CPC Central Committee, combining the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025) and the Long-Range Objectives Through the Year 2035 as well as centering on new development philosophies and new development paradigm. And they need to do research according to their personal majors and career development in order to improve innovation and entrepreneurship.
This meeting aims to arrange innovation and entrepreneurship of School of Foreign Studies, convey students its importance and improve students’ scientific research and innovation ability so as to promote our school’s development.
