On December 13, our university held the launching ceremony of the “Yunmeng House”, a child care project. Attendees of the ceremony included Zhao Liming, Deputy Secretary of the Youth League County Committee of Binzhou City, Wang Ran, Deputy Secretary of the Youth League County Committee of Jining City, Zhang Zhan, Secretary of the Youth League Committee of the university, Shi Guoqing, Deputy Secretary of the Youth League Committee, Kong Youran, Deputy Secretary of the Student Youth League Committee, Man Cong, General Manager of Qingdao Shike Chemical Technology Co., Ltd, Han Shuqin, Deputy Dean of the School of Foreign Studies, Mei Lin, Deputy Secretary of the Student Party Branch, Ma Lili, Associate Professor of the Department of Chinese Language and Literature, members of the “Yunmeng House” project team and all volunteers and children of the “Yunmeng House”.The ceremony was presided over by Du Wenqian, Secretary of the Youth League Committee of the School of Foreign Studies.

7 phases one-to-one online courses had been conducted successfully since the founding of “Yunmeng House” Project, and more fruitful tutoring modes and activities would be developed. Shi hoped that all the teachers and students participating in the “Yunmeng House” project would remember the instructions of our General Secretary Xi Jinping and carry forward the volunteer spirit of dedication, fraternity, mutual help and progress, give warmth to others, contribute to society, show the ideals, beliefs, benevolence and responsibility of young people in the new era, and make progress with children with their love and company.

Man Cong said the donation to “Hope House” made him ponder over the true meaning of corporate social responsibility and feel “the gain outweighs the pain”. He explained that spiritual poverty alleviation is more important than material poverty alleviation from his own experience, so it is very meaningful for the project to continue paying attention to children’s growth and providing spiritual support for them.
Fan Yuting, a volunteer representative from Class 1902 of English major, is speaking.
“Every flower deserves to bloom, every dream deserves to be cherished, and every child should have his or her own sea of stars”, said Fan Yuting. She convinced that the meaning of “Yunmeng House” is to protect every seed of hope and make dreams come true. As volunteers, they will try their best to be companions for children’s growth with love and hope.

On behalf of the grantees of “Yunmeng House”, Li Zixuan said, the volunteers of “Yunmeng House” had given her great help, not only enriching her knowledge, but also opening her heart. She will learn from these brothers and sisters in the future, complete her studies with excellent grades, and make efforts to repay the society and serve our motherland.

Zhao Liming said that the key to poverty alleviation is “aspiration promotion”. The best interpretation of the word “aspiration promotion” is the warm-hearted volunteer service of “Hope House”, which will help more children in need change their fate and help them grow up to be the pillars of our motherland. In the first lecture “Wonderful Characters”, Associate Professor Ma Lili explained the production process of Chinese characters from sound to shape through a series of fascinating stories and specific examples, which increased the children’s interest in learning Chinese characters.

To win the battle of poverty elimination, Provincial Party Committee of Shandong launched “Hope House” Project in 2020.The School Youth League of UPC raised more than 180,000 Yuan altogether, helping the construction of 22 “Hope House” in Xinyang, Binzhou and Weishan, Jining. Meanwhile, the Youth League of the School of Foreign Studies initiated “Yunmeng House”, an online welfare project, based on “Hope House” Project, to help children to go to school.
Since its founding, “Yunmeng House” has been following the principle “One Favour, One Success”, and by the way of one-to-one online teaching, “Yunmeng House” not only helps in students’ learning but in their living as well. Also, this project has built dynamic voluntary feedback system, teachers of UPC took a series of measures on volunteer’s training, collective lesson preparation and feedback tracking, so as to achieve the optimal voluntary service.

In addition, the University launched a series of public welfare fundraising projects, such as “Charity House Building” and “Loving Shop”, to help the continuous construction of “Hope House”. Volunteers have initiated donation activities of second-hand goods and charity sale on campus, and the majority of teachers and students have responded positively. So far, the Dream Building Fund has raised nearly 10,000 Yuan.
Course Schedule of “Yunmeng House”
“Yunmeng House” project will carry out “House Library”, “House Wish Wall”, “House Scholarship” and other activities in the later stage, through academic counseling, family companionship, psychological counseling, loving donation, wish fulfillment, summer camp visit and others. Follow-up services, continuous care, poverty alleviation and intellectual aid are combined to form a virtuous cycle of “problem-solving - education - success - feedback”. Let “Hope House” children have self-reliance, self-improvement, and optimistic attitude towards life. We will turn “Hope House” into a powerful tool of poverty alleviation, a model project to care for children’s growth, and a public welfare brand to rally social love.
