Recently, Prof. Sun Daman of School of Foreign Studies was awarded the “Top 10 Postgraduate Tutors” in the selection of the Top 10 Postgraduate Tutors and the Top 10 Postgraduate Tutor Teams in 2020 organized by the University.
The selection is divided into several rounds, including the team application, the recommendation of college, and the evaluation of the university. A total of 10 tutors of the University were awarded as the top 10 postgraduate tutors, and 10 tutor teams were awarded as the top 10 graduate tutor teams. In the process of postgraduate cultivating, Prof. Sun Daman practiced the philosophy of cultivating students by good virtue and scientific research, and established a unique talent training system of “Russian + English + Energy” for postgraduate students in Russian translation, thus cultivating a large number of high-quality translation talents for the Belt and Road Initiative. She promoted the Integration of teaching and research, leading 7 projects in the past 5 years, including 1 national social science fund projects, 3 provincial projects, 2 Qingdao social science fund projects, participating 2 major projects of the National Social Science Fund and 2 humanities and social science fund projects of the Ministry of Education. Meanwhile, she published 2 books and 8 papers, winning 15 awards of the scientific research achievements. Assumed the responsibility of translation abruptly, Prof. Sun and her team managed to compile the first Handbook of COVID 19 Prevention for Tajikistan to combat the epidemic, spreading China’s voice in fighting COVID 19. To serve the local economic development, Prof. Sun organized more than 100 teachers and students of Russian major as translators and volunteers to serve for Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit and Film Festival in 2018, and translated personally for Kyrgyzstan delegation in the Summit, bringing our university’s superiority into full play.
The award of “Top 10 Postgraduate Tutors” will encourage all postgraduate tutors to guide the masters with their academic attainments and personality strength, and motivate postgraduate tutors to strive for innovation in teaching, scientific research, social service, postgraduate education, discipline construction and education, educational reform and other aspects; consequently, to keep forging ahead on improving postgraduates’ educational level and the quality of talent training.
