The semi-finals of the “FLTRP · Guocai Cup” National English Competitions on Speaking, Writing and Reading in Shandong region have been held online from October 31 to November 1.
More than 140 participants from over 70 universities including China University of Petroleum (East China), Shandong University, Ocean University of China and so on took part in these three events. Thanks to the teachers’ careful guidance and the players' hard training, participants in our school won one first prize, one second prize, two third prizes, and two winning prizes through the fierce competitions. In the speech contest, Zhang Zhouyuan won the second prize in the non-English Major group, and Ma Shuang won the third prize in the English major group. In the writing competition, Liu Yiru won the third prize in the English major group, and Hao Zhulin won a prize of excellence in the non-English Major group. In the reading competition, Li Zhongjie won the first prize in the English major group, and Shi Zhanghong won a prize of excellence in the non-English Major group. All the instructors won the title of excellent instructors.
Speaking of this competition, Ma Shuang said, “During the whole preparation process, I enjoyed practicing the impromptu speech with instructor Yang Jie. Each time, it was not only a communication with her, but also a dialogue with myself. I found my own shortcomings and gradually clarified the things I love. I will continue to try, to explore, and to find myself!” Li Zhongjie said: “I think the competition of FLTRP is very comprehensive, in particular, when mentioning the logical analysis questions, which can be hardly met in ordinary examination despite its importance.”
This competition not only shows the excellent education level of our school, but shows the elegant demeanor of our students. We are looking forward more splendid accomplishments in the new season of 2021.
The FLTRP series is jointly sponsored by Foreign Language Teaching, Research Press and China Foreign Language and Education Research Center. It accumulates and assembles outstanding students from all over the country and aims to compete in language expression, present the art of communication, exchange diversified thinking, promote the new knowledge of the times, and build a pattern of education.
