Students of School of Foreign Studies Performed Well in Russian Speech Contest of the First “Meeting at SCO Cup”

The semi-final of Russian speech contest(university level) of first “Meeting at SCO Cup” was held in Jinan on September 25th, and our university altogether had 4 participants. After fierce competition, 2019 grade MTI student Tan Yajing got the first prize, while other three students,2018 grade undergraduate Lu Yijiao, 2019 grade MTI participants Xu Danning and Meng Chaomin got the second prize. Congratulations to Tan Yajing who will participate in the final contest held in the later October on behalf of our university!

The Russian speech contest of “Meeting at SCO Cup” is a provincial competition co-organized by China-SCO Demonstration Area, Shandong Translator Assistance and Secretary of Sino-Russian (Shandong) Education International Cooperative Alliance. It is the content of the humanistic education section of the Meeting at SCO brand exchange activity planned by The Foreign Affairs Office of Shandong Province. It is also an important measure to put “Opinions of Provincial Foreign Affairs Office on Serving the Construction of China-SCO Local Economic and Trade Cooperation Demonstration Area” into practice and provide talents and intellectual support for the construction of the Demonstration Area. 84 students from 31 universities of Shandong Province participated in the semi-final.

Our teachers of Russian major carefully organized the “Meeting at SCO”Russian speech contest, and pre-contest coaching team was set up with more than five teachers including Zhao Tingting, Sun Daman, Zhou Ruiping, Alec, Meng Honghong. Team members repeatedly modified and polished students’ speech content, corrected students’ pronunciation and intonation. The contest fully demonstrated the good professional quality and high-level cross-cultural communication ability of our Russia major students. The competitors benefited a lot from the contest. Tan Yajing, a student of our school took part in the contest, she said, “Although the preparation process was hard, all the efforts worth it. I will further improve myimpromptu speech to do better in the final.”
