Our school conducted in-depth exchanges with College of Foreign Languages of Huaqiao University, College of Foreign Languages of Ocean University of China and School of Foreign Languages of Qingdao University, in order to draw up a sound “14th Five-Year Plan” and prepare for the 5th round discipline evaluation.
On July 26th, Prof. Mao Haoran, doctoral supervisor and head of College of Foreign Languages of Huaqiao University, visited our school and met with more than 20 members of faculty in our school, including Zhang Yongning, Secretary of the School Committee of the CPC, four Deputy Heads -- Prof. Wang Xinbo, Prof. Sun Daman, Associate Prof. Han Shuqin, and Prof. Guo Yueqin, Zou Weizhong, Deputy Secretary of the School Committee of the CPC, Prof. Xu Wanzhi, Chairman of the Professor Committee of the School, Prof. Sun Xiuli, Outstanding Teacher in Shandong Province. Deans of each department and some members of the Professor Committee were also present. Both sides introduced itself to each other and its achievements during “the 13th Five-Year Plan” period. They exchanged experience in terms of faculty construction, personnel training, discipline construction, construction of academic research teams, the “14th Five-Year Plan” drafting, and so on, which laid a foundation for their all-round cooperation in the next stage.
On July 27th, the leading group of our school, including Zhang Yongning, Wang Xinbo, Sun Daman, Han Shuqin, Guo Yueqin and others, formed a Joint Research Group with Mao Haoran, dean of the College of Foreign Languages of Huaqiao University, and paid a visit to the School of Foreign Languages of Qingdao University. Bian Jianhua, head of the School, Wang Chuanyong, Secretary of the School Committee of the CPC, deputy heads of the School from Qingdao University – Gong Yingrui, Bu Zhanting, and Lou Yongqiang, participated in the talk. Prof. Bian answered questions on discipline construction, personnel training and other issues. Members from the three schools carried out constructive and in-depth exchanges, and learned a lot from each other.
On July 29th, the Joint Research Group paid another visit to the College of Foreign Languages of Ocean University of China. Yang Lianrui, head of the College, Ju Hongmei, Secretary of the College Committee of the CPC, and Deputy Heads – Teng Mei and Chen Shifa, participated in the talk. College of Foreign Languages of Ocean University of China is our School’s role model. Prof. Yang Lianrui made professional explanations and answered questions on talents introduction, minority language majors, doctoral programs, interdisciplinary doctoral programs, doctoral program of the first level discipline, discipline evaluation and so on.
Our school has reached a consensus with College of Foreign Languages of Huaqiao University, College of Foreign Languages of Ocean University of China and School of Foreign Languages of Qingdao University, that we should seize the opportunity of drawing up “14th Five-Year Plan”, prepare well for the 5th round of discipline evaluation and the future development plan-making, strengthen exchanges and cooperation and realize the sharing of advantageous resources. Moreover, we should encourage faculty to further their study, import high-level talents and form a disciplinary community with a shared future, so as to ensure a sustainable development of the discipline of foreign languages and literature.
