2019 Global English Education China Assembly is held in Hangzhou International Expo Center from July 26 to 28. Four professors of our college, Sun Xiuli, Han Shuqin, Guo Yueqin and Pan Lixia, attended the meeting and engaged in thorough exchanges and communication with experts from other schools.
With “Chinese English Education: Based on the Time, Sino-foreign Communication” as its theme, the assembly attracted nearly 3000 English education experts and English teachers from home and abroad to Hangzhou. They jointly wrote a new chapter of Chinese English education modernization in the new era and set out a new journey of sino-foreign English communication together under the background of interactions and mutual learning among civilizations. The assembly held a series of activities on 12 sub-themes, including core literacy education, teachers’ development in the era of intelligent education, AI and foreign language education, etc. Nearly three hundred Chinese and foreign English education experts, scholars and outstanding paper submitters of the assembly fully showcased the remarkable achievements of Chinese English education reform, shared up-to-date education philosophy and teaching modes in the field of global English education in the forms of keynote speech, seminar, workshop, class demo and paper presentation, offered international perspectives on Chinese English education; their efforts and advice contributed to global English education.
This assembly is co-hosted by China Daily, Hangzhou municipal government, Shanghai International Studies University, Foreign Language Teaching Committee of China Association of Education and World Association of English Teachers, jointly organized by 21st century English education media and publicity department of Hangzhou municipal committee, and the College of Foreign Language and Literature of Beijing Normal University(BNU) provided academic guidance. “Hangzhou Declaration” was passed during the assembly.
Participating teachers have learned quite a lot and reached a consensus on promoting the modernization of Chinese English education with other English teachers from home and abroad. They make a solemn pledge to seize the opportunities in the new era, fulfill duties in their work, make contribution to “Double Tops” construction of universities, and play a positive role in exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations.
