The attendees in the symposium included Dong Jinwei, Dean of the School, Yang Minsheng, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School, Wu Yan and Xiong Tao, Deputy Deans of the School, Associate Professor Yang Manzhen and other teachers of the team.

Zhang Yongning briefly introduced the construction and development status of College of Arts of China University of Petroleum (East China). He said, the College had made achievements in terms of undergraduate and postgraduate English teaching. However, it had also encountered development bottleneck. Therefore, a series of college English courses of the School were of great significance for the College’s reform of education and teaching.

In the first place, Zhang Yongning and other teachers were welcomed by Yang Minsheng and Dong Jinwei. After briefly introducing the background of the School, Wu Yan gave a specific introduction about the rationale, curriculum and teaching resources of the college English teaching system. Yang Manzhen and her team members of the School presented teaching reforms and practices of the formative assessment team. They explored the formative assessment teaching mode with characteristics in the light of information technology. With the help of the FiF cloud learning platform of FIFEDU, and the course currency incentive model created by teacher Liu Jianda, they formulated a reasonable course evaluation plan, dynamically recorded the whole process of teaching, learning and evaluation of college English on the platform, and formed traceable student electronics files. In the whole process, students could set clear objectives, attach importance to the learning process, participate in and become the subject of evaluation. Thus, their enthusiasm for classroom participation and the initiative for extracurricular independent learning have been improved.

Subsequently, the two sides had a close communication centered on the reform of college English teaching and postgraduate English teaching, learning from each other's experience and practices, which played a positive role in further promoting the education and teaching reform of both sides.
