We bid farewell to the old year with warmth and ushered in the new one with joy. On the afternoon of January 11th, College of Arts held the 2019 New Year Party at Room 142, Arts & Science Building. The college faculty gathered together, enjoying the party. The party was ablaze with bright lights and was alive with loud singing and warm applause. This New Year Party was grand and wonderful with 11 programs from all departments of the college.
Li Han, the teacher of the Music Department, performed a program of percussion ensemble, “Dragons Rising and Tigers Leaping”, kicking off the party with the passionate drumbeat and joyous rhythm. “The Story of Time” from the Department of Applied Foreign Language and the drama “Days of Our Lives” from the Second Department of College English reflected our college faculty’s spirit of pursuing a better future. “Tomorrow Will Be Better” from the Department of English Language and Literature reminded us of the childhood. “We Will Rock You” from the Department of Russian Language and Literature and “On the Hopeful Field” from teachers of the Department of Music pushed the party to a small climax. Yan Xiuping, a retired teacher from the Department of Chinese Language and Literature, sang a piece of “Ode to a Pear Tree” in Peking Opera with a long aftertaste. “China in the Spring” from the First Department of College English eulogized tremendous changes of the motherland in the past 40 years since reform and opening-up. In the form of humor, the three and a half sentences—a kind of traditional folk art performance—of the institute shows the daily details of its teaching assistant work. Fu Hanjiao, the teacher of Fine Arts Department, and the children of foreign teachers sang a song “Love”, cute and lovely. Finally, the chorus of “I Love You China” by the Department of Law conveyed the vision for a brilliant future of our college. The party ended in a happy and peaceful atmosphere.
Full of laughter as well as the warmth and affection, this New Year Party demonstrated the vitality and grace of the faculty and expressed the good wishes for the future of the whole college. In the new journey of 2019, let's stay true to the mission and pursue dreams with ingenuity, doubling our efforts to take every step in the college construction and development.
