On October 17-19, six lecturers from Arts Department including Sun Feng, Wang Zhigang, and Song Jin went to several famous universities in Shanghai to do academic investigations and professional researches.
They made researches in the School of Media and Design of Shanghai Jiaotong University, the School of Architecture and Urban Planning and the School of Art and Media of Tongji University, the School of Fashion and Art Design of Donghua University, and the School of Arts of Shanghai University, etc. During the research, Dr. Dong Zhanxun from Shanghai Jiaotong University introduced the New Media Lab, the Research Institute of Traditional Culture and Modern Design, the Research Institute of Tourism and Landscape Design. Besides that, he and our teachers discussed deeply some issues such as how to open new majors about media and design art in engineering colleges, the enrollment issues and the prospects of art majors. Associate Professor Liu Xiaodong, the director of the Art Center of Donghua University, based on his own research, specifically introduced the teaching status, new applications of new processes and materials, and teaching philosophy and model of future design and spatial structure.
In addition, teachers from our college carried out multi-directional interactions with teachers and students from these universities. And they reached a consensus on establishing a “reciprocal exchange of famous teachers” program. This activity benefited everyone. On the one hand, our teachers have expanded their academic horizon and enlarged their artistic thinking model. It’s helpful for the development of the art major. On the other hand, it provides some experience for us to establish related courses in the future.
