On November 10th, Fu Xiao delivered a lecture titled Culture and Life on American Campus in Room 314, Nanjiao Building, as one of the series lectures given at our 5th Exhibition of International Cultures undertaken by Department of Russian Literature and Language. Numerous students who are interested in this topic participated.

At the outset of the lecture, Ms. Fu vividly illustrated symbolic landmark buildings with the US metropolitan flavor, including the White House, Capitol and Statue of Liberty, as well as her impression about the US spiritual culture such as Hollywood and its democracy.

Then, Ms. Fu demonstrated conditions and some programs to further our study in the US, encouraging students to actively engage in academic exchanges with their foreign counterparts. Higher institutions in the US value lectures in small class assisted by various facilities, and they recommend student-oriented teaching, said Ms. Fu.

At last, teacher Fu displayed with data and pictures diverse clubs in the US campus, including the well-known elite club named the Skull and Bones, and the Greek Organization who includes Fraternities and Sororities. Reading abroad means an exposure to different cultures, She said, naturally it will help us be capable of embracing diversity

Students said the lecture broadened their horizons and they benefited a lot by knowing more about campus life in the US.
