Campus trials of “FLTRP Cup” National English Debate achieved complete success on February 25th. Li Yanyun, Cai Hongwu and Fu Liyan from College of Arts served as debate judges.UPC Liaison Department organized the contest.
The four teams—LY, Pmsparks, Infinite Justice and Team of Niu&Lu—constituted pros and cons. After fierce competition, cons won the champion. First debater Yuan Zhouand third debater Xue Lun from the winning teamwill participate in finals representing UPC.
The debate titled “Advertising plays or doesn’t play a negative role in our society”. Taking SAMSUNG and Bawang as examples, the pros held that product described in advertisement is often unreliable and misleading. The consmaintained that adcontributes to GDP growth as it stimulatesdomestic consumption. In the end, teacherscommentedon the participants’ performance.
