July23witnessed the second annual conference of foreign language teaching and research association of national petroleum colleges held in Liaoning PetrochemicalUniversity. The keynote of the meeting was that petroleum universities and colleges nationwideshould adhere to“College English Teaching Guide” and “National Standard of Teaching Quality of Bachelors of English Major” to promote teaching reformand enhance review efficacy.Fifteen delegatesfromChina University of Petroleum, Southwest Petroleum University, Xi’an University, Guangdong Petroleum and Chemical Engineering University and Liaoning PetrochemicalUniversityattended the meeting, among whom wereWang Shuting, dean and Wang Xinbo, vicedeanof College of Artsand other counter parts from relative entities were also involved.
Professor Cai Jigang fromFudan University and Professor Wang Shuting from China Petroleum of Universitywereinvited to make keynote speeches and petroleum colleges were organized to share their own valuableresearches. The conference has deepenedthe reform of foreign language teaching, strengthenedthe relationship and cooperation among higher education institutes, improvedthe quality and level of teaching and study, promotedthe establishment of foreign language subjects and quality of teachers, and spread advanced teaching ideas,patterns,experience and methodsamong the members. Besides, the meeting createda platform for our foreign language teachers to learn, exchangeand exhibittheir teaching ability. All these activities were conductive to improve the quality of talents trainingof petroleum universities.
