On 12thSeptember, afarewellpartyforthe twelfth groupof students to studyabroad in Russiawas held.The party waschaired byYang Wucheng, ViceSecretary of the Party Committeeof College of Arts. Others present at the party were Wang Shuting (Dean of the college), Zhang Yongning (Secretary of the Party Committee), Zhao Chunlu (Vice Director of the Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges), Sun Daman(Vice Dean of the college), and Instructor of the College of Arts. Besides, all students preparing to study abroad in Russia attended the party.
First of all, Sun Daman gave a detailed introduction to this project, and pointed out that it is necessary to further deepen cooperation and exchanges with the Belgorod State University, by adding "2+2" and "4+X" joint training project based on the "3+1" joint training mode. Besides, she hoped that students to study in Russia can study harder and make their own contributions to the promotion of the exchanges between China and Russia. Then, as a returned student of the eleventh group studying abroad in Russia, Wang Dong shared his experiences in studying abroad, covering from preparation before departure to luggage service, arrangement of headmaster, selection of Chinese monitor, living conditions and learning experiences.
Zhao Chunlu, who once worked for several years in the Chinese Embassy in Russia, delivereda speech and gave three suggestions to students studying abroad in Russia based on his own experiences: abidingby the laws,paying attention to security, and focusing on study.He particularly attached emphasis onthe security issuesand made clear requirementsfor immigration mattersand the visa issues. What’s more, hehoped that studentscan lead a safe life in Russiain the future.Subsequently, Mei Lin, vice Secretary of the Party branch of students,announced "The resolution on the establishment of a party group for the twelfth batch of students studying abroad in Russia ". Meanwhile, aparty group of students studying abroad in Russia was established with Tian Xinlei and Ji Guansheng as group leaders so as to further strengthen training,education,development and managementof overseasparty members and activists studying abroad. Finally, Wang Shutingexpressed his expectations to students that will go for a long journey: rememberthe mission, do as the Russians do, and be patriotic. Hewishedthat students should study hard in Russiaand try hard to learn about the nation and her culture. Moreover, they should consciously safeguard the imageof our school and country in order to serve asthe bridge and link of friendship and cooperation between Chinaand Russiain the future.
We have learnedthat15 undergraduates and 9 graduate studentsare to participate in this exchange program in Russia in 2016.12 undergraduates will study at Belgorod State University, and 3 students, through the CSSC project, will study atRussian Friendship University, MoscowNormalUniversity and Novosibirsk Universityrespectively. The expense of 9 graduate students studying abroad was fully sponsored by the state. Among them, 5 students were supported by the Russian government scholarship to study at Belgorod State University, the other 4 students were funded by the Chinese Fund Committee and went to Russian Petersburg University, Gubkin University of Petroleum and Pushkin University of Languages respectively.
The farewell party made students feel that they had received much concern from the College of Arts and the UPC, which may be beneficial for them to adapt to study and life in Russia after listening to the instructions of their seniors. In addition, it was conducive to bolster a sense of national belonging and national identity--even if living overseas, we should invariably stay true to the original mission--love our country, love our motherland.
