1.To holdthe Fourth International Conferences onEnglish for Specific Purposes ie.the SeventhAsia English Seminar for Specific Purposes
During September 25 to27, the Fourth International meeting on English for Specific Purposes (the Seventh International Conference of Asian English for Specific Purposes) held in China University of Petroleum, more than 230 experts and young scholars from 158 nationwide colleges and universities for example, University of Sydney, University of Hong Kong, Peking University, Beijing Foreign studies University come together to explore ESP teaching and research, in order to meet the challenges of economic globalization and internationalization to higher education and English teaching . This international seminar was co-sponsored by the China Research Society of English for Specific Purposes, Taiwan Research Society of , English for Specific Purposes professional English research center by Hong Kong Polytechnic University and College of Arts in China University of Petroleum (East China). It was the first time for us to hold the international conference, which can expand our academic influence in the international arena through academic exchanges and communication between teachers and students, it is of great significance for us to broaden academic horizons and promote scientific research. The meeting will discuss domestic ESP and ESP research in Asia at the same time,Which can enhance exchanges between colleges and universities throughout Asia, have a huge impact on ESP studies in Asia and the world and play a positive role in promote the reform and improvements ESP in Asia especially China.
2.Overall employment rate of 2015 graduates in College of Arts reached 91.54%, is eligible forAwardof EmploymentProgressduring2014-2015
Initial employment rate of 2015 graduate in College of Art reached 91.54%, undergraduate employment rate reached 98.33 percent, ranking fourth in our university,postgraduate rate topped 35%,theemployment rateof three undergraduatemajors includesEnglish, Russian, law and two postgraduate majorsincludes Russian interpreters, Chinese Ancient Literature reached100%; undergraduate employment rate increased by 12 percentover thelast year, graduate students increased by 9 percentover thelastyear,overall employment rate of College ofArt in 2015 grew 10 percent over last year, an increase of 20 percent over the previous year, College ofArtwas award the 2014-2015 Employment Progress.
3. Professor Mu lixia was elected in the state "Double Thousand Project".
General office of the Ministry of Education, office of the Central Committee issued the list of "Double Thousand Project" in 2014. With her solid theoretical knowledge and prolific practical experience, Professor Mu Lixia in Department of law became a member of the first 202 experts in colleges and universities in the "Double Thousand Project". Teacher Mu has been teaching law students for a long time. After passing the qualification exam of legal profession in 1996, she did the agent work about a large number of cases, and then she got the promotion of professor in 2010.
4. Attaining appraisals of all types and at all levels in teaching competitions by our teachers.
Arts of College attaches great importance to teachers' teaching development, adhering to the basic ideas of "developing, introducing, stability, improving", fully implementing the strategy of "revitalizing school by talents".19 teachers won many prizes in all levels of various teaching competition and the achievements appraisal this year, creating a good atmosphere internally and promoting the image of our college externally. During the 2nd national competition finals of the micro course teaching in college and universities, Chen Xiuling won the honorable mention with the Understanding China English with ten minutes; Teacher Chen Xiaoxin won the first prize in our school's excellent teaching achievements appraisal in 2015. Dong Jindi, Guo Yueqin, Shen Zhuangjuan, Fanliang won the second prize; During the 2015 Teaching Competition of young teachers in our school, Fuxiao attained the first prize while Sun Jin, Chen Xiu-ling won the second prize and Youran the third prize; In the first National "Oil Cup" Teaching Skills Contest in oil universities, foreign language teachers Ren Ying-chun, Pan Lixianay and Sun Yuchao won the first prize, second prize and outstanding prize respectively. Zhao Chun-xia, Zhanhai respectively won the second prize and third prize among English teachers; During the second micro teaching competition of undergraduate course in Shandong province, Chen Xiuling won the first prize, Zhanhai, Zhang Shujie won the second prize while Hanhui won the third prize. Zhangnan won the third prize in the tenth Shandong Young Singer Contest. Guo Song won the second prize in the sixth Shandong Basic Training Competition for Dancing and Singing professional teachers and students.
5. Havebeing successfully passed the Assessmentby the Ministryof Educationfor workLevelof UndergraduateTeaching, college of Arts continues topromote and construct its undergraduate teachingthrough evaluation .
From October 19th to 22nd, the group of experts that dispatched by Ministry of Education came to our school to examine the undergraduate teaching work. They have made across the board assessments and evaluation by listening and watching the lectures, undertaking deep interviews with students and teachers,checking some related data,visiting some teaching facilities etc. Taken full advantage of the opportunity of this evaluation,Our college has realized the coordination of assessment,innovation, construction and promotion. Firstly, we mad a sufficient preparation work by undertaking self-assessment. Secondly, during the period of the evaluation, to meet the high requirements and wide aspects of the evaluation, all faculty and staff actively corporate with expert panel and the college arrangements, which play an important role in smoothly passing this evaluation.On top of this, our college continuously focuses on the improvement of undergraduate teaching work in a sustainable way and bringing the most advance of the work of assessment and construction.
6.ACROSS-- the variety show for welcoming the New Year of 2016 has been successfully hosted by teachers and students.
On December 27th,directed by Mr.Zhang zhixiong , a teacher of our college,consisted of over four hundred teachers and students took part in,ACROSS- the variety show for welcoming the New Year of 2016 has been successfully hosted in the gymnasium. The university authorities together with more than one thousand teachers and students watched the party.This party represented as a highly quality party after more than two months of intense rehearsal. It was starred by our college teachers and students and with the whole school faculty. Those programs such as the graceful dance of different ethnics,melodious instrument performance,wonderful singing and acting,and the scrupulous of modern Peking opera,brought a tremendous visual impact to the audience. Thus it received a warm welcome and praise from the teachers and students of the whole school.
7.The Master of translation of our college managed the assessments of the group of experts. The first session of the Masterof TeachingChineseto Speakers of Other Languageare enrolled.
With the delegation of the State council,China National Committee for MTI Education organized the groupof expertsto have the field investigation on the postgraduate education in Translation Studies of our college from May 11th to 12th. This inspection to our school is regarded as a comprehensive review, a challenge,and a good opportunity to show the strength of our teaching and to find the problems for further development.
The first session of the Masterof TeachingChineseto Speakers of Other Languagethat consists eight postgraduates are carrying out training after their enrollment. The major of the Masterof TeachingChineseto Speakers of Other Languagebegan to recruit students in 2015,which is in a cooperative cultivation of International Education in Chinese by our institute and the Institute of international education.In addition, our college also held special workshop on the construction of the Chinese International Education master,reaching a consensus on teaching organization and management, teacher training, practice teaching of the Masterof TeachingChineseto Speakers of Other Language.
8.College of Arts win the honorary title of“the advanced collectives of journalism & publicity”and“Top ten news website”
The Party Committee of China University of Petroleum pay high attention to Publicity and Ideology Work and pro-actively respond to the new opportunities and challenges brought by globalization and internet.They construct stereoscopic network position based on the specific characteristics of disciplines,improve work promotion mechanism and pay attention to cultivate and promote backbone team. Thereby,they have become the core force of news publicity at all level colleges in China University of Petroleum. Wang He, majoring in Chinese language and literature as a freshman in 2012, is the main person in charge of Students'Journalist Society of University Newspaper, College Student News and HuiCui Youth. He is elected as the media league president in collegesanduniversitiesofShandongprovince and the media league executive chairman in Chinese institutions of higher learning.
The College of Arts and the News Studio of College of Arts are awarded the honorable title of “the advanced collectives of journalism & publicity”and “the outstanding society of press publicity ”respectively both ranking the first place the in the review and commendation meeting on November 6th 2015. Besides, the college of arts website ranks as the top ten websites with over ten stuff praised.
9.The College of arts hold the National Conferences on English Teaching for graduate students
On April 25th 2015, China University of Petroleum(HuaDong) and the branch of Higher Education Academy for postgraduate English Teaching in Beijing cosponsor the National Conferences on English Teaching for graduate students , co-organized by China Renmin University Press. More than one hundred and sixty professors and younger academics from Tsinghua University, Tongji University, Fudan University, Party School of the CPC to Xiamen University and other top 100 colleges and universities are brought together in China University of Petroleum(HuaDong). They share the fruits of the new reform of graduate English teaching and discuss the new future of Graduate Student Teaching Reform.
10.New breakthrough has been made in foreign exchange and cooperation in running schools and employ non-language foreign experts to give lectures for the first time.
This year,our college firstly send three delegations to visit Korea, Japan and Tchaikovsky music college in Russia for cooperation. This effort make solid foundation for Internationally Cooperative School-running.We deepen our cooperation on Russian majors with Don't Jurg Rhodes National University in Russia and reach an agreement and sign an agreement on undergraduate education for “2+2 ”model, graduate education for “1+1”model and changing majors for graduate education. New breakthrough has been made in foreign exchange and cooperation in running schools. Sixty five students go abroad for exchange programme this year and eight teachers participated in international academic conferences. Ten advanced foreign experts are invited to give a lecture in our school.
At the invitation of the Department of Law in college of arts, professor Sergey vladimirovich from Don't Jurg Rhodes National University will give three-week lecture for students in Department of Law in college of arts. Professor Sergey teaches Science of Civil Law and Environmental Law for undergraduate students and graduate students majoring in law with twenty two class hours and holds lectures such as Energy law and the Russian federal civil code. It is the first time for us to invite non-languageforeign expert to give lectures for students.
