On 25th, April, 2015, the National Postgraduate Students English Teaching Conference was held in UPC. The conference was sponsored by the Postgraduate English Teaching Conference Branch of Beijing High Educational Society, the College of Arts and Graduate School of UPC. More than 160 experts, professors and young scholars from 100 universities gathered here to share the new achievements of postgraduate English teaching reform and discussed the future reform. Wang Ruihe, Penggong, Ju Fangan delivered speeches.
The topics for discussion of this conference were the following: the English teaching development and reform of postgraduate students; the academic development of postgraduate teachers; English Curriculum Provision for postgraduate students, textbook compilation, and the discussion of teaching models and teaching methods. At the meeting, Professor Wang Ning; Professor Zhou Wenhui, the president of the periodical Degree and the Education for Postgraduate Students; Professor Guo Yueqin from UPC; Professor Zhang Xia, the editor-in-chief of Shan Dong Foreign Language Teaching; and Professor Peng Gong, the president of the Postgraduate English Teaching Seminar Branch of Beijing High Educational Society, delivered keynote speeches. Alongside the main meeting, four parallel sessions are set for discussion of such topics as “Postgraduate English teaching and discipline construction”, “teachers development and management”, “postgraduate English teaching reform”, “academic English teaching”, et al. .
The conference made a great difference in promoting the English teaching reforms of postgraduate students, improving English teaching quality, strengthening the power of teachers, and enhancing the communication between nationwide universities. It also improved the popularity of the College of Arts of UPC.
