Late on October 16, Professor Huang Zhonglian，director of the Institute of Translation Science in Heilongjiang University and the doctoral tutor, came to our university at the invitation of the Russian department. He held a conversation with the faculties of Russian department and MTIs about Russian translation teaching and translation learning methods.
At the forum, Professor Huang gave detailed explanations to all sorts of problems proposed by the students, providing cases about theory combining with practice in MTI teaching. He emphasized the necessity of these courses：Introduction to Translation, Literary Translation Criticism and Appreciation. He stressed that translation learners should take priority to the mastery of Chinese language in order to improve translation ability. More attention should be paid to books of high culture.
As a founder of “variable translation theory”, professor Huang has made prominent establishment in the field of translation theory studies. Simultaneously, he is a prolific scholar who was successively in charge of 12 national, ministerial, provincial scientific research projects, published 17 academic works, and released over 190 academic papers. His representative works are: Study of Translation Variation, Essence of Translation, Variable Translation Theory and Scientific Translation.
