September 9 was the first day of the orientation, and all the work to welcome the newcomers goes smoothly. In the afternoon, the college held a meeting for parents of the freshmen helping them have a deeper understanding about the college and establishing closer contact with them. The meeting was held by Zhao Zhenhua, the counsellor of the freshmen of 2014. Wang Shuting, the Dean, Yang Wucheng, the deputy Party secretary and the directors of each department attended the meeting.
First of all, the Dean welcomed the parents and introduced to them the orientation work as well as the basic situation of the college and each department with the emphasis on the teaching and management mode, the ever-expanding education scale and ever-improving college construction, the high-qualified faculty and so on. He also gave an introduction of the promising status quo of job-hunting and further studying.
The college leadership expressed the wish that parents can focus on the study and daily life of students, enhance communication with the college to ensure the all-round development of students.
The parents raised some questions about the educational philosophy, the faculty construction, the choosing of courses, the cultivation of students, the major changing, the rate of further studying and employment, the international cooperation and so on. The college leadership explained in detail one by one.
The parents were satisfied with the explanation of the college leadership and said they would actively support and cooperate with the college to make unremitting efforts for students’ development.
